Radish (Raphanus sativus) contains carbohydrate, dietary fiber, folic acid, anthocyanins, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6, vitamin B9 (folate), vitamin C, potassium, phosporus, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, and zinc.It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

The chemical compounds in radish are composed of myrosinase,  glucosinolate, and isothiocyanate.The entire radish plant is edible, including taproot, seed, bulb, and the flesh.The raw flesh has a crisp texture and a pungent, peppery flavor, caused by glucosinolates and enzyme myrosinase, which combine when chewed to form allyl isothiocyanates.Radish has many varieties in sizes, shapes, and colours.

A Report from the Harvard School of Public Health, states that Adding fiber of radish to diet lowers the risk of diabetes, heart disease, diverticulitis, and colon cancer.

Researchers at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India tested various part of radish plant against human cancer cells.The results of their study, published in the September 2010 Issue of Plant Foods for Human Nutrition show that The compounds in the radish bulb or root affect genetic pathways in the cancer cells, inducing cancer cell death.
