Panax is derived from Greek word " for healing." It is a plant tuber credited with various tonic and medical properties.Panax or Ginseng is a very nutritionally rich plant.Ginseng root is rich in amino acids and minerals such as aluminium, arsenic, calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, sillica, and vitamins like vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B8, vitamin B9, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D, and ginsonesides, triterpenoids.

The Disadvantages of Ginseng

Ginseng should be avoided in the case of cardiac problems because it can increase the high blood pressure risk and heart palpilation ( taking high dosage or mixing with other stimulants like tea or coffee).The consumption of ginseng may cause headache, dizziness and upset stomach (dyspepsia) for long term use or high doses.Women consumes ginseng regularly that may experience menstrual changes.


The Consumption Of Ginseng Dosage

The recommended dosage to consume ginseng is 800 milligrams to 2 grams per day, depending on individual's need and on the quality of ginseng.Some Chinese herbalists recommend up 2 grams of ginseng every day.It is recommended to restrict periods of treatment to 3-4 weeks with one week of rest.Ginseng should never be used for more than three consecutive months without taking a break.Ginseng has a strong  tendency to increase effects than other plants or medicines.It has led to numerous contraindications. For taking ginseng root daily for twelve weeks can improve mental performance of people's alzheimer's disease.
According to  the Complete German  Commission E Monographs, crude preparation of dried root powder 1 gram to 2 grams daily for up three (3) months.For clinical trials, the dosage of crude root has ranged from 0,5 gram to 3 grams per day.Generally the dosage of extracts has ranged from  100 mg to 400 mg.
